Hall of Fame
For over 30 years, Vanessa Seljeskog impacted the lives of countless student-athletes as an administrator and coach at Macalester. She coached the women’s cross country and track & field teams from 1986 to 2000, mentoring several MIAC champions and All-Americans along the way. Her track & field athletes qualified for the NCAA national meets 30 times while winning five individual national championships. In cross country, the Scots qualified for the national meet as a team three times, with the 1999 squad placing eighth nationally. Vanessa served as an Assistant Athletics Director for 10 years and as Associate Athletics Director for 16 years, overseeing NCAA compliance, club sports programming and physical education curriculum, among other areas. During her time at Macalester, she assisted in the planning of the $45 million Leonard Center, oversaw the $1.5 million renovation of the track complex, and organized and managed numerous MIAC championships and NCAA postseason events. Upon her retirement in 2017, Vanessa was honored by the MIAC with the MIAC Distinguished Service Award.
