James Anderson joins a long list of swimmers from Macalester powerhouse teams to join the M Club Hall of Fame and is in fact the fourth member of the Class of '66 to be inducted, joining Darwin Klockers, Joseph Mannikko and John Van Winkle. Like his teammates, Anderson swam to great successes. He was a two-time national champion, a four-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champ, and four-time All-America swimmer on a team that claimed four MIAC titles.

As a senior at Macalester, Anderson won the 200-yard backstroke at the MIAC meet and also swam on the winning medley relay team, which also won the national title with a new NAIA record time. Anderson earned top-three finishes at the national meet in the backstroke all four years on the team.

A Master's swimmer, Anderson has raced in four triathlons, including the Minneapolis Aquatennial. He has had a successful career in health care administration and is the chief administrative officer for the Mayo Clinic Arizona . Anderson is a Fellow for the American College of Healthcare ExecutiveS and is a recipient of the James Hamilton Achievement Award. He has been a trustee, board member, chair and officer of many foundations, organizations, professional groups, colleges and churches.

Macalester Athletic Achievements:    
Swimming – 4-year letter earner 1963-1966, Co-captain 1965-1966, 4-time All- American, 4-time Conference Champion, 2-time National Champion. Set 2 MIAC records, set 2 NAIA (Nationals) records. Finished in the top 5 at Nationals 10 times, and the top 5 in Conference 11 times.
Achievements after Macalester:
Masters Swimming – 4 triathlons including the Minneapolis Aquatennial.
Career in Health Care Administration – Currently Chief Administrative Officer, Mayo Clinic Arizona.
Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Received James Hamilton Achievement Award.
Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives.
Many publications in healthcare management.
Many professional and community activities including several Boards of Directors. Trustee, Chair, Board Member, Officer of many foundations, organizations, professional groups, colleges, churches - 41 different assignments.
