Hall of Fame
As a four-year starter for the Macalester volleyball team, May Lin Kessenich established herself as one of the top liberos in the recent history of the MIAC. She is the only student-athlete to be named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Year outright three times since the conference established the award in 2001. As a senior in 2004, Kessenich set the school record with 675 digs, made the All-MIAC and All-Region teams, was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight season and received All-American honorable mention. She was chosen the M Club Athlete of the Year following her senior year. Kessenich also holds the school record for career digs with 2,037. Kessenich majored in biology at Macalester and taught high school and middle school Spanish. Currently she is home with her three young children and still plays beach volleyball competitively.
