Kaela Schramm excelled as a hurdler, sprinter and jumper as a member of the Macalester women’s track & field teams. She posted 10 All-MIAC performances in five different events while winning five conference titles in four different events. After winning the 100-meter hurdles as a sophomore and the indoor triple jump as a junior, Kaela captured the 55-meter dash and the 55-meter hurdles indoors and the 100-meter hurdles outdoors as a senior. Her two titles at the MIAC Indoor Championships earned her the Performer of the Meet award. Kaela competed at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 55-meter hurdles and placed fourth to receive All-American honors. Her time of 8.25 in the prelims set a MIAC record that stood for nine years. Currently, Kaela is the Director of Projects and Planning for M’akola Development Services, an affordable housing organization serving urban Indigenous families and individuals.
