Arthur C. Skjold, M.D., was a member of the first hockey and tennis teams at Macalester.  He earned letters in three different sports - three in football, one in hockey, and one in track and field.

Dr. Skjold played tackle for four years in the Scot football team, twice earning All-State honors.  On the track, he competed in the high jump, mile relay, and discus throw.  As a right wing on the hockey team, he was captain and player-coach his senior year.

A past president of the M-Club, he was instrumental in bringing Sigma Delta Psi, an honorary athletic fraternity, to Macalester.  He was also secretary of the Athenean Society.

Following his graduation from Macalester in 1925, Dr. Skjold completed medical school at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 1929 and was recipient of a Fellowship in Surgery in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1932.

During his 50 years of medical practice in the Twin Cities, Dr. Skjold was a member of the surgical staffs at Fairview and North Memorial hospitals, and was a former Chief of Staff at Fairview Hospital.

Dr. Skjold is a member of the Minneapolis Surgical Society and the American College of Surgeons.  He has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota Masonic Home for 12 years.

Dr. Skjold lives in Minneapolis.
