Still in the Macalester football record book for having the longest kickoff return in school history with a 97-yarder for a touchdown, James Reissner was a two-time All-MIAC back who led the Scots to winning seasons in 1960 and 1961 under coach Ralph McAlister. An honorable mention All-America player, Reissner went on to give it a shot in the NFL before being the final player cut by coach Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys.
Reissner was a team co-captain and letter-winner in '60 and '61 when the Scots posted records of 7-2 and 6-3. He was selected in the National Football League draft by the Dallas Cowboys.
Reissner is CEO of Activar, Inc., in Minneapolis and has served on numerous corporate boards. He has been active as board members for such organizations as the Minnesota Orchestra, Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, and the Children's Cancer Fund. Reissner is a former executive at U.S. Bank.
