Hall of Fame
Bob Berquist was a three-sport athlete at Macalester in the 1950s, playing football all four years while earning three letters in baseball and two letters in basketball. On the gridiron, Bob was the Scots’ starting quarterback and played alongside twin brother Jim in the backfield. Bob received All-MIAC honors in 1955 and 1956 while also being named an All-American. His leadership and success on the field led Macalester to winning records as a sophomore and junior and laid the groundwork for a 6-1-1 campaign in 1957, a season he would miss due to an injury. Prior to the injury, Bob was the baseball team’s center fielder. After graduation, he taught English and Physical Education while also coaching multiple sports. Eventually, Bob became the principal at Frederic (Wis.) High School and served in that role for 24 years before retiring.
