Grace King was a high-scoring forward on the women’s soccer team from 2005 to 2008, compiling 30 goals and 19 assists for 79 points. She currently ranks eighth in goals and points and 10th in assists despite missing her senior season due to injury. A two-time All-MIAC and All-Region honoree, Grace started her career with 12 goals and 31 points as a first year to help Macalester post a 20-0-2 record, capture MIAC regular-season and playoff titles and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. After a seven-goal, 17-point campaign in 2006, she registered 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points as a junior, earning All-American honors and MIAC Player of the Year accolades. That year Grace also was selected Macalester’s M Club Women’s Team Athlete of the Year. After graduating, she played soccer recreationally for a few years in Southern California and has stayed involved with soccer by teaching the game to her children and supporting their love for soccer. An American Studies and Hispanic Studies major at Macalester, Grace volunteers with The Joy Centered Living Experience, an online community created to build anti-racist, joy-centered living, healing and growth.
