Delbert (Buck) Wood*

Delbert "Buck" Wood participated in four varsity sports at Macalester, capturing nine letters and several awards.  As a tackle for the football team, he earned All-State honors for three consecutive years (1925-27).  He also was captain of the 1927 football team, and captain of the 1924 freshman team.

In addition to earning three letters in football, Mr. Wood received two letters each in basketball, track, and swimming.  A member of Macalester's very first swimming team, he recorded the second highest individual point total during the 1927 state swim meet.

Mr. Wood was the first of five members of his family to attend Macalester and participate in the College's athletic program.

After earning his LL.B. degree from Saint Paul College of Law in 1939, Mr. wood became a special agent for the F.B.I. for seven years.  From 1947-70, he was chief special agent and director of special services for the Illinois Central Railroad, a position which involved directing security, police, fire prevention, and claim investigations.  Since then, he has worked as a security consultant.

Mr. Wood is a life member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, a life member and past president of the Special Agents Association of Chicago, past president of the Police Advisory Committee of the Association of American Railroads and of the Chicago Railway Special Agents and Police Association, a life member and past regional vice president of the American Society for Industrial Security and a member of the Society of Former Special Agents, F.B.I.
