Hall of Fame
Ralph Robertson participated in three different sports at Macalester - football, basketball, and track - and earned three letters in each.
As a Macalester football player from 1919-21, Mr. Robertson played in both offensive and defensive positions. He was named to the All-State team as a fullback in 1919. Mr. Robertson's career as a basketball player included service as the team captain in 1921.
Mr. Robertson left Macalester after his junior year and graduated with a degree in business from the University of Minnesota in 1924. Although University transfer students were not allowed to join varsity teams, he did play on what was called the U's "freshman football team" in 1922.
After graduation, Mr. Robertson pursued a career in sales and sales management. He worked for Minneapolis Gas until 1949. During World War II, he took a leave from that firm to do job relations training in several states for the U.S War Manpower Commission. He returned to the Twin Cities to work in distribution and sales management for Cook Appliance, a wholesale distributor.
He retired in 1970.
