An outstanding all-around athlete, Jerry Boldt lettered at Macalester in football, hockey, and track and field.

Boldt played professional baseball for a couple years before coming to Macalester so he couldn't play that sport in college.

An all-conference halfback in football as a junior and senior, he helped the Scots go 5-1-1 in 1958 with a second-place league finish after helping the team post a winning record the previous two seasons.  He scored three touchdowns in a win over St. Thomas as a senior and the year before scored a still-standing school-record 26 points in a game (four touchdowns and two conversions) in a victory over Hamline.

In hockey Boldt was the Macalester team captain as a senior.
