A varsity letter winner in football, basketball and baseball at Macalester, Milton Jahn excelled particularly in football, helping the Scots post winning records in 1938, 1939 and 1940. Macalester, in fact, lost just one game in each of Jahn's last two seasons. Jahn was a linebacker on the 1939 team which held conference champ St. Thomas to just 69 yards in total offense-a Macalester school record which still stands today. As a senior Jahn was the captain of the football squad, leading the Scots to a 5-1-1 mark, while being named to the first-team All-State squad.

Following graduation from Macalester, Jahn earned a master's degree in elementary education, as well as a specialist degree in elementary education administration, from the University of Minnesota. An Air Force physical training instructor during World War II, Jahn returned to the states and began a long and successful career in the St. Paul school district as a teacher and principal.
