George P. Leonard*

Nicknamed "Old Faithful", George P. Leonard was a member of the Scots football team for four years and also an outstanding track performer, specializing in the mile and two mile races.

A major financial supporter of Macalester programs, including athletic programs, Leonard recently made a gift to winterize the College's weight room facilities.  He has also served Macalester as a Trustee and is currently an Honorary Trustee of the College.

Highlights of his track career include finishing first place in the mile against the University of North Dakota in 1926, being a member of the two mile relay team which set a school record in 1925 with a time of 8 min. 32 sec.; and winning two consecutive state third place finishes in the mile in 1926 and 1927. He was also a  member of the Macalester Players, Mac Weekly and president of the senior class.

Leonard is former executive vice president and general manager of Wunderlich Contracting Company, one of the major heavy construction contractors in the county. His numerous honors include a special community service for his work in senior citizens programs in Marin County, California, the College's first Alumni "Pacesetter Award", and also an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Macalester. 

Leonard resides in Stinson Beach, California.
