Although he was one of the main backfield stars in football for three years, it was on the track and field where William Morris stood out. Macalester won three Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track titles in his four years and Morris was the top point scorer in most meets. He broke the school pole vault record as a freshman, clearing 11 ½ feet in an era when the pole was made out of bamboo and the runway was  cinders. He also excelled in the shot put,

discus, long jump and high jump. Morris was team captain his senior year. A chemistry major, Morris also started as guard on the basketball team his freshman year and played three years on the football squad as fullback. He usually led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns scored.

Following graduation, Morris worked at the University of Minnesota School of Chemistry until 1936 when he moved to Eugene, Oregon, to work for the McDonald Candy Company until World War 11. Since the end of the war, Morris has worked for C.C. Justice Realty Co. in Portland as a salesman and sales manager.

Morris has been one of the key players in the Peninsula Kiwanis Club of North Portland, Oregon, and his considerable community contributions have been mainly through this organization.
