Edwin F. Harris '36 was an eight-letter winner at Macalester and an outstanding quarter-miler on the Scots' track team.

Mr. Harris twice captained the track team, which won three MIAC titles during the four years he was a member.  He anchored the Scots' mile relay team that was best in the conference and the state, and captured Northwest AAU championships in the 220 and 440 runs.  He also earned four letters in swimming.

The 1936 Macalester yearbook said of Harris' state meet performance, "Captain elect Ed Harris won a thrilling 440 race to add to the numerous firsts already accumulated by the Orange and Blue."

Mr. Harris is the founder, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Northwest Standard Products Co., a regional distributor of building material products for more than 40 years.  He is past president of the National Remodelers Association of Minnesota, and was national vice president of the organization.  In 1977 he was named "Man of the Year" by the National Remodelers Association for his significant contributions to the home remodeling industry.

Mr. Harris is past president of Temple Israel of Minneapolis, has been named to "Who's Who of the Midwest," and has served on the advisory committees of Senator Rudy Boschwitz and the late Senator Hubert H. Humphrey.

Mr. Harris resides in Edina, Minnesota.
