Carley Bomstad Fruzzetti made an immediate impact for the Scots’ volleyball team, as she was named the MIAC and Central Region Freshman of the Year in 2000. That year Fruzzetti helped Macalester tie for second in the MIAC regular-season standings and take third in the MIAC playoffs while compiling a 22-8 record overall. She would go on to become the only Macalester volleyball player to make the All-MIAC team four years while setting program records for total blocks and block assists. As a senior, Fruzzetti led the Scots to a 19-10 record and received All-American honorable mention. Her hitting percentage of .344 ranked first in the MIAC that season.
