Kawika Alo was a standout, two-sport athlete at Macalester, earning All-MIAC honors twice in both football and baseball. On the gridiron, he was a dominant defensive end who as a senior totaled 66 tackles, including 4.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. A first baseman on the diamond, Alo set several program records at the plate and currently holds the school standard for career home runs with 26. As a junior, he led the MIAC with a then-program best 10 homers while batting .339 with 36 runs batted in. Alo followed that up by delivering seven home runs and 36 RBIs while batting .401 as a senior. He was named the M Club Athlete of the Year in both 1996 and 1997.
