| By:

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Macalester College men's track & field team hosted the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational today at the Macalester Stadium. The Scots notched multiple wins and records, and they scored 116 points to place second out of 14 teams on their home track.

Senior Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) slashed another school record today, this time in the 100 meter. Heitler won the race in 10.58 to pass Richmond Sarpong '95, whose record had stood for 32 years. The time also places Heitler 19th in NCAA D-III, which will qualify him for the national tournament in May if it holds. He now possesses the 100, 200 and 400 meter school records at Mac.

Senior Kalid Ali (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) won the 400 meter in a personal record 50.12, the eighth-best time in program history. Senior Nick Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) won the 1500 meter on a homestretch burst for a 4:08.02 finish. Not far behind him, senior Brock Adams (Corona, Calif./Santiago) placed third in a season best 4:12.22.

In the 800 meter, senior Tor Olsson (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) and junior Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) placed third (1:58.12) and fourth (1:58.97), respectively. Lebakken's time marked a season best. In the 110 meter hurdles, junior Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Valley Catholic) bounded to third place in 16.14. On Thursday in the 5000 meter, senior Reece McKee (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) placed second in 15:03.96.

Mac finished the day on the track in emphatic fashion. The 4x400 meter relay team of Heitler, first year Karson Sammons (Portland, Ore./Westview), Ali and first year John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) won in 3:19.44, more than 11 seconds faster than second place. The team of junior Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault), Lebakken, first year Jack Riley (Wrenshall, Minn./Wrenshall) and sophomore Charlie Pierce (Milwaukee, Wis./Shorewood) placed third in that relay in 3:37.68.

The Scots also had a big day in the field. In the triple jump, senior Riley Hodin (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) and first year Ataa Mensah (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) placed second (13.54 meters) and third (13.45 meters) respectively. Hodin's distance is the 97th-best in NCAA D-III.

In the javelin, senior Aiden Yang (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) launched for 51.62 meters that placed him second. In the hammer throw, junior Austin Mills (Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill) notched a 47.51 meter toss to finish fourth.

As the season creeps towards the MIAC Championships, Macalester heads down Snelling Ave on Wednesday, April 30 for the Meet of the UnSaintly at Hamline.
