BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Macalester College sophomore
John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) qualified for the finals of the 800 meters on the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Ihrke finished second in his heat with a time of 1:52.68 to automatically qualify for Saturday's final, out-leaning Haytham Ramadan of St. Joseph's at the tape to take second. His time was the fourth-fastest time in the preliminary heats, which included 20 runners.
Ihrke will compete for a national title in the 800 finals on Saturday, March 14 at 5:00 p.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
