Men’s Track & Field: MIAC Recognizes Six Scots with Conference Honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Three members of the Macalester college men's track and field team and one relay team were honored as the MIAC announced its year-end awards for track & field today. The top three finishers in each event at the MIAC Outdoor Championships earned All-MIAC status, while places 4-6 received honorable mention. 

Sophomore Ataa Mensah (Roseville, Minn./Roseville) turned in a pair of All-MIAC performances in the field events on Saturday. Earlier in the day, he cleared 1.94 meters (6-4.25) in the high jump to finish in second place. Towards the end of the meet, Mensah took third in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 14.24 meters (46-8.75). The mark ranks fourth on Macalester's all-time performance list.

On Friday, senior Tyler Edwards (Beaverton, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) finished third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:34.51 to earn All-MIAC honors. In the 4x800-meter relay, Macalester's team of senior Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault), first year Donovan Connole(West Hartford, Conn./William H. Hall), junior Daniel Wiltse (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate) and senior Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) took fifth place in 7:57.36 to receive All-MIAC honorable mention. The time ranks eighth all-time on Macalester's performance list.

Bethel senior Grant Nelson and Hamline sophomore Isaiah Watson were named the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year, respectively. St. Olaf first-year Paxon Myers received the Men's Outdoor Rookie of the Year award and Bethel head coach Andrew Rock was recognized as the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
