BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Macalester College sophomore
John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) finished ninth in the finals of the 800 meters as the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships wrapped up Saturday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The performance earns Ihrke a spot on the All-America second team.
Ihrke took ninth in the final with a time of 1:52.31, which is a personal best and breaks his own school record of 1:52.48 set earlier this season. Dickinson's Trevor Richwine won with a meet-record time of 1:48.17. Ihrke joins former teammate
Arlo Heitler '25 as Scots who have earned second team All-America status.
The outdoor track & field season begins on April 1 at the Hamline Invitational.
