ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College men's track & field team competed on the first day of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday at St. Olaf. The Scots tallied 12 points and are in ninth after one day of competition.
The highlight of the day for the Scots came in the 10,000 meters, as senior
Tyler Edwards (Beaverton, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) finished in third place with a time of 31:34.51 to earn All-MIAC honors. In the 4x800-meter relay, Macalester's team of senior
Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault), first year
Donovan Connole (West Hartford, Conn./William H. Hall), junior
Daniel Wiltse (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate) and senior
Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) took fifth place in 7:57.36. The time ranks eighth all-time on Macalester's performance list.
Also scoring on the track was junior
Quinn Hoisington (Seattle, Wash./Lincoln), who placed seventh in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:55.97. The time ranks fifth all-time at Macalester. In the preliminary heats, Schonebaum qualified for the finals of the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 49.82, which ranks fifth on the Scots' all-time list.
Macalester concludes the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 9 at St. Olaf.
On Saturday, the field events begin at 12:00 p.m., while the track events start at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the Friday and Saturday sessions are $13 for adults and $4 for students per session. All ticket sales will be handled online by
