NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Macalester College men's track & field team won three events on Friday at St. Olaf's Tostrud Classic. The meet served as the Scots' final tune up before next week's MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. No team scores were kept.
First Year
Donovan Connole (West Hartford, Conn./William H. Hall) won the 800 meter with a personal best of 1:58.63. Three more Scots did well in the event, with junior
Kelvin Moresi (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), Senior
Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) and senior
Thomas Malecha (Faribault, Minn.) lining up at fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Another running win came from Junior
Quinn Hoisington (Seattle, Wash./Lincoln), who's 4:22.52 mile topped the night. The race was tight – 0.01 seconds slower, and Carleton could have pulled ahead. junior
Daniel Wiltse's (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate) personal record of 4:24:05 brought him into third.
Other Scots running well included First Year
Drew Morral (Philippi, W. Va./Philip Barbour), whose personal best of 7.10 in the 60m prelims landed him second, though he'd fall to fifth in the event's finals. Senior
Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Valley Catholic) came in second at the hurdles with an 8.51 personal record, and Senior
Hamza Mahamud (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) followed him in fourth.
Macalester's fourth win came in the field, with sophomore
Ataa Mensah's (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) 13.90 m triple jump. Senior
Austin Mills (Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill) tied for third in the shot put.
Next up for Macalester is the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at Carleton College Feb. 26-28 in Northfield, Minn.
