ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College men's track & field team competed at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic, hosted by the Scots Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center. Macalester placed eighth out of 12 teams, scoring 28 points.
Junior
Daniel Wiltse (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate) got the Scots off to a great start with a victory in the 3000 meters. Wiltse won the first event of the meet with a time of 8:57.17. Senior
Tyler Edwards (Beaverton, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) finished fifth in 9:08.88. Sophomore
Drew Morral (Philippi, W. Va./Philip Barbour) qualified for the finals in the 60 meters with a time of 7.15 seconds, which is tied for sixth all-time at Macalester, then took seventh in the finals in 7.21. Senior
Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) finished seventh in the 600 meters in 1:29.45. Sophomore
Quinn Hoisington (Seattle, Wash./Lincoln) took eighth in the mile with a time of 4:27.87.
In the field events, sophomore
Ataa Mensah (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.10 meters (42-11.75). In the shot put, sophomore
Artur Porto (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) posted the ninth-best throw in Macalester history with a toss of 13.79 (45-3) to take ninth.
Next up for Macalester is the St. Olaf Invitational next weekend, Jan. 30-31 in Northfield, Minn.
