Women’s Track & Field: Rogahn-Press Breaks Two More Records at Georgia Tech; Scots Compete at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - First year Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) continued to rewrite the record books at Macalester with two more school records at the Georgia Tech Invite on Saturday. The remainder of the Macalester College women's track & field team registered multiple impressive performances at the Carleton Relays.

Competing mostly against Division I and II athletes, Rogahn-Press finished seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 54.30, which tops the old mark of 55.53, set by Hannah Sonsalla '18 in 2018. The time currently ranks second in Division III behind Eva Carchidi of Emory, who won Rogahn-Press' heat and finished sixth at Georgia Tech. In the 200 meters, Rogahn-Press took 14th in 24.55, which is the 23rd-fastest time in Division III. She broke Sonsalla's old record of 24.93, set in 2017. Rogahn-Press now holds Macalester's 200 and 400 records both indoors and outdoors.

At the Carleton Relays, first year Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) won the 100 meters in 12.67 and finished third in the 200 with a time of 27.29. Sophomore Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) took sixth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:52.61, while junior Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) finished seventh in the 400 meters in 1:01.57. Macalester's 4x100-meter relay team of Beckley, Harmony-Keli Tomety (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook East), Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) and Roen Boyd (Minneapolis, Minn./South) took third with a time of 52.86.

In the field events, first year Juliet Reichardt (Tiburon, Calif./Marin Academy) won the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters (4-9). Sophomore Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) placed second in the shot put with a toss of 11.79 (38-8.25), took third in the javelin with a mark of 30.90 (101-4), and finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.92 meters (16-1.75). Also in the javelin, sophomore Brooke Boroughs (Monroe, Wash./Monroe) took second with a toss of 31.08 (102-0). Sophomore Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) placed second in the hammer throw with an effort of 44.14 (144-10).

Wilson was fourth in the pole vault, matching her personal best of 3.05 meters (10-0), which ranks fourth on Macalester's all-time performance list. Boyd took sixth, clearing a personal-best 2.75 meters (9-0.25). Boyd's mark ranks sixth all-time at Macalester.

Macalester hosts the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational on Thursday, April 24 and Saturday, April 26 at Macalester Stadium.
