ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team traveled down Summit Avenue to compete in the Joe Sweeney Invitational, held at the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday.
The Scots' top performance on the track came from sophomore
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), who placed fourth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:40.96. Junior
Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) also ran the 1500 and finished 13th in a personal-best time of 4:57.59. Sophomore
Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) competed in both the 100 meters (12.88) and the long jump (5.01 meters/16-5.25), taking 13th in both events.
Also in the field events, junior
Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) placed ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.02 meters (9-10.75). Sophomore
Juliet Reichardt (Tiburon, Calif./Marin Academy) took 11th in the high jump, clearing a season-best 1.43 meters (4-8.25). Senior
Lauren Cappelmann (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) was 11th in the triple jump (9.10 meters/29-10.25) and 13th in the javelin (24.14 meters/79-2).
Macalester has multiple competitions scheduled this week. Junior
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) competes in the heptathlon Thursday and Friday at the MIAC Multi Championships at Carleton. The Scots will participate in Hamline's Meet of the Unsaintly on Friday and in the Ole Open at St. Olaf on Saturday.
