ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College sophomore
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) earned All-North Region honors in the 400 meters, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today. Athletes must be ranked in the top eight regionally in an individual event, or top eight in a relay to receive All-Region honors.
In the first outdoor meet of the season at the Hamline Invitational, Rogahn-Press won the 400 meters with a time of 53.98, which still ranks as the fastest time in Division III. The time is just .10 off her personal-best time of 53.88, set at last year's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Championships. Following the meet at Hamline, Rogahn-Press' outdoor season ended abruptly due to injury. This is her fourth All-Region honor, as she previously turned in All-Region performances indoors and outdoors last year, and indoors this winter.
Rogahn-Press had an outstanding indoor season, taking third in the 400 meters to make the All-America first team and running the second-fastest time (54.22) ever recorded at the Division III level. She also qualified for nationals in the 200 meters and earned All-America second team accolades with an 11th-place finish. In just two seasons at Macalester, Rogahn-Press is a four-time All-American.
