Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) and rising juniors
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) and
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) of the women's track & field team were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic Athletes, the organization announced. Additionally, the Scots were named an All-Academic Team.
To qualify as an USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the program must register at least a 3.10 cumulative GPA. The Scots finished the season with a team GPA of 3.69.
In order to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have either competed in an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 individually or top 35 in a relay.
Myatt, who makes her second appearance on the All-Academic Athlete list, repeated as the MIAC shot put champion indoors and placed second in the event outdoors. She also finished third in the high jump and was sixth in the heptathlon at the MIAC Outdoor Championships. An excellent all-around athlete, Myatt broke the school records in the pentathlon indoors and the heptathlon outdoors this season, and holds both shot put school records. Also a two-time Academic All-District honoree the past two years, she is majoring in both economics and psychology.
Fox qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after taking 10th at the MIAC Championships and 15th at the North Region meet. She was 107th at nationals, then reeled off personal bests in the mile and 1000 meters indoors and the 800, 1500 and 5000 meters outdoors. Fox was All-MIAC in the mile (third) and the distance medley relay (second) indoors and the 1500 (second), 5000 (third) and 4x800-meter relay (second) outdoors. An international studies and economics major, she also was named an All-Academic Athlete by the USTFCCCA and was included on the Academic All-MIAC team for the fall.
Rogahn-Press, who also repeats as an All-Academic Athlete, turned in another outstanding season on the track, taking third in the 400 meters and 12th in the 200 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships to earn All-America honors for the third and fourth time. At the MIAC Indoor Championships, Rogahn-Press won the 400 with a meet and facility record, took second in the 200 and finished third in the 55-meter dash to be named the MIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Due to injury she only ran once outdoors and posted the fastest time in the 400 in Division III this season. Also an Academic All-District selection, Rogahn-Press is majoring in sociology.
