NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team participated in two meets this weekend. Senior
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) competed at the Arkansas State University Red Wolf Open, while the rest of the Scots headed to Northfield to compete at the Carleton Relays.
Amundson shined in Arkansas, winning the triple jump with a mark of 11.72m (38' 5.50"). She defeated her opponents by jumping nearly a foot farther than the competitor who came in second.
In Northfield, first year
Mara Pirone (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill) set a personal record time of 5:11.01 in the 1500m to finish fifth in the event. In the 800m, the Scots had first year
Sky Theodosopolous (San Francisco, Calif./Bay School) finished fifth, with a personal best of 2:26.56, which currently ranks 18
th in the MIAC. Finishing just behind Theodosopolous in sixth was junior
Karley Thurston (Minneapolis, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson). She ran a time of 2:29.97.
In the field, junior
Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) took second in the javelin throw. She registered a mark of 32.48m (106' 7"). Senior
Erin Franke (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) took fourth in the javelin throw.
Macalester's next meet is scheduled for April 27 and 29. The Scots host the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational at Macalester Stadium.
