NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Macalester College men's track & field team participated in the Carleton Relays on Saturday while sending seniors
Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) and
Aiden Yang (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. Friday and Saturday.
On Friday at Georgia Tech, Yang placed 10th in the javelin throw with a toss of 52.71 meters (172-11). Heitler ran the 200 and 400 meters on Saturday, taking 14th in the 400 with a time of 47.90 and placing 23rd in the 200 in 21.67. His 200 time was .06 off his own school record.
At Carleton on Saturday, several Scots posted strong performances. In the 1500 meters, Macalester had five runners finish in the top eight, with senior
Tor Olsson (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) placing second in 3:59.80. First year
John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) was third in 4:01.84, senior
Ben Crotteau (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast) was fifth in 4:03.48, senior
Reece McKee (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) took seventh in 4:05.10, and sophomore
Daniel Wiltse (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate) was eighth in 4:05.78. Junior
Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Westview) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.25. In the 800 meters, juniors
Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) and
Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) took seventh and eighth, respectively in 1:59.57 and 1:59.96.
In the field events, junior
Austin Mills (Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill) finished second in the hammer throw with a throw of 48.92 meters (160-6). First year
Artur Porto (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) placed third in the shot put with a toss of 13.77 meters (45-2.25), which is tied for 10th all-time at Macalester. In the discus, Mills was second with a toss of 39.46, first year
Leo Koch (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) took third (39.45), Porto was fourth (39.11) and first year
Silas Revenaugh (St. Paul, Minn./Nova Classical Academy).
First year
Ataa Mensah (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters (5-10.75), and placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.90 meters (42-4). Senior
Riley Hodin (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) also took third in the long jump with a mark of 6.56 meters (21-6.25).
Macalester hosts the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational on Thursday, April 24 and Saturday, April 26 at Macalester Stadium.
