MANKATO, Minn. — The Macalester College men's track and field team competed in the Mark Shuck Open & Multi today in the Myers Field House, where they set multiple personal bests and continued to improve the school record books.
The Scots took the top three places in the 5000m as senior Reece McKee (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) finished in 15:06.43, junior Tyler Edwards (Beaverton, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) finished in 15:07.30 and senior Nick Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) finished in 15:27.20.
Also on the track for the Scots, first year John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) finished second in the 800m in 1:58.56, good for ninth-best in program history. In the 600m, senior Kalid Ali (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) posted a personal record of 1:24.58 to pass junior Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) in the record books by a tenth of a second to move into the fifth spot on Macalester's all-time lists.
In the field, first year Ataa Mensah (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) moved into tenth in program history in the triple jump with a distance of 13.21m (43' 4.25"). First year Artur Porto (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) logged a new personal best of 11.88m (38' 11.75") in the weight throw.
The Scots continue their indoor season on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Carleton Meet of Hearts in Northfield, Minn.
