ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team competed at the Joe Sweeney Invitational hosted by St. Thomas today.
Sophomore
Aiden Yang (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) set a personal record in the javelin throw, with a mark of 48.19m (158' 1"), to finish fifth. Senior
Mason Bosley (Amery, Wis./Amery) came in seventh in the javelin throw, registering a personal best mark of 46.02m (151' 0"). Yang and Bosley's marks rank sixth and ninth in the MIAC. First year
Austin Mills (Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill) threw a personal best of 40.61m (133' 3") in the discus throw. Mills placed seventh and ranks 12
th in the MIAC.
On the track, first years
Hamza Mahamud (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and
Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Valley Catholic) finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 110m hurdles. Mahamud registered a personal best time of 16.53, which ranks 12
th in the MIAC. First years
Aki Wada (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel) (1:00.77) and
Thomas Malecha (Faribault, Minn.) (1:01.85) set personal records in the 400m hurdles, finishing seventh and ninth respectively.
First year
Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) set personal records in the 200m dash and 400m dash, while seniors
Colin Morefield (Katonah, N.Y./John Jay) and
Lachlan Witt (Kinnelon, N.J./Morris Catholic) set personal bests in the 800m run and 400m dash respectively.
The Scots' next meet is scheduled for Friday May 5. Macalester will compete at the Meet of the Unsaintly, hosted by Hamline in St. Paul.
