ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track and field team wrapped up competition on the final day of the MIAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Hamline University. The Scots finished 11th in the team standings with 28 points.
Sophomore
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) posted the team's best performance of the meet with a second-place finish in the triple jump that earned her All-MIAC honors. Her leap of 11.37 meters (37-3.75) is a personal best for Amundson and ranks third all-time at Macalester. On Friday, she placed fifth in the long jump. Also in the field events, senior
Jasmine Loving (Normal, Ill./Normal Community West) just missed scoring in the high jump, taking 10th with a personal-best 1.48 (4-10.25).
First year
Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster) completed her outstanding debut season by taking fourth in the 1500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:44.00. She also earned points in the 5000 meters, taking seventh in 18:33.94.
Amundson also had an impact on the track with a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters in 26.36 (wind-aided). In the 4x100-meter relay, Amundson combined with juniors
Mikayla Ennever (Wayzata, Minn./Breck School) and
Hannah Grosse (Minneapolis, Minn./Coon Rapids), and first year
Penelope Hunter (Granville, Ohio/Granville) to take sixth with a time of 50.61.
