ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team is competing in the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday, May 8-9 at St. Olaf. The field events begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the track events start at 2:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
The Scots' field event contingent looks especially solid this year, with multiple athletes looking for top-eight finishes. Junior
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep), who placed sixth in the heptathlon last week for Macalester's first three team points, is ranked fourth in the shot put and sixth in the high jump. She is the two-tie defending MIAC shot put champion indoors.
Junior
Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford), Macalester's school record holder in the hammer throw, is ranked fifth in her specialty. Senior
Harmony-Keli Tomety (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook East), who finished second in the long jump outdoors last year, is among the top six long jumpers in the MIAC field. Senior
Brooke Boroughs (Monroe, Wash./Monroe) is ranked seventh in the javelin.
On the track, sophomore
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) is ranked second in the 5000 and third in the 1500 in the MIAC field. Junior
Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) has the MIAC's seventh-best time in the 10,000 meters and is ninth in the 5000 meters. Sophomore
Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) ranks just outside of the top 10 in the 100 and 200 meters.
