| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's cross country team is ranked sixth in the North Region in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association North Region rankings, which were released today. The Scots return to the regional rankings for the first time since September of 2022.

This past Friday, Macalester finished second out of eight teams, all from the MIAC, at the Hamline Invitational. The Scots put four runners in the top 14 to finish with 68 points, behind Carleton (19) and ahead of Gustavus (90). Junior Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) led the way for Macalester with a seventh-place finish in 22:40.9. She was followed closely by sophomore Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), who covered the 6000-meter course in 23:01.6 to take eighth. Juniors Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) and Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) took 13th and 14th, respectively, posting times of 23:34.6 and 23:37.9. First year Aubrey Jensen (Floresville, Texas) rounded out the top five for the Scots, placing 26th out of 106 finishers in 24:23.5.

The performance vaulted the Scots into sixth in the regional rankings ahead of MIAC teams Gustavus and St. Scholastica, which are now eighth and ninth in the region. UW-La Crosse is the North Region's top-ranked team, followed by Carleton, St. Olaf, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater. Macalester is sixth, Concordia Wisconsin is seventh and UW-Oshkosh is ranked 10th.

Macalester heads to the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational on Friday, Sept. 19 at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.
