ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's cross country team ran against MIAC competition and placed second out of eight teams at the Hamline Invitational, also called the MIAC Preview, at Highland National Golf Course, home of this year's MIAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1. The Scots put four runners in the top 14 to finish with 68 points, behind Carleton with 19 and ahead of Gustavus with 90.
Junior
Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) led the way for Macalester with a seventh-place finish in 22:40.9. She was followed closely by sophomore
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), who covered the 6000-meter course in 23:01.6 to take eighth. Juniors
Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) and
Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) took 13th and 14th, respectively, posting times of 23:34.6 and 23:37.9. First year
Aubrey Jensen (Floresville, Texas) rounded out the top five for the Scots, placing 26th out of 106 finishers in 24:23.5.
On Friday Macalester, which took sixth at last year's MIAC Championships, finished ahead of four teams (Gustavus, St. Scholastica, Bethel and St. Olaf) who beat the Scots at the MIAC meet in 2024.
Macalester heads to the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational next Friday, Sept. 19 at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.
