WAVERLY, Iowa - The Macalester College women's track & field team competed in its first outdoor meet of 2025 Friday and Saturday at the Wartburg Outdoor Select. No team scores were kept.
The meet started on Friday with the javelin, hammer and pole vault. Sophomore
Brooke Boroughs (Monroe, Wash./Monroe) won the javelin with a personal-best toss of 36.84 meters (120-10), which ranks sixth all-time at Macalester. In the hammer throw, sophomore
Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) broke the school record with a throw of 47.97 meters (157-4) to take seventh. Her mark, which topped the old record of 47.75 set by
Stephanie Goei in 2012, also ranks 27th in Division III. In the pole vault, sophomore
Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) improved on her personal best outdoors, clearing 3.05 meters (10-0) to tie for fifth. She also moved up to second on the Scots' top 10 list.
On Saturday, Macalester competed well on the track with multiple solid performances. First year
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) picked up where she left off following an All-American indoor season, winning the 400 meters with a time of 55.97. The time currently ranks sixth in Division III and is second all-time at Macalester behind only
Hannah Sonsalla '18, who ran a school-record time of 55.53 in 2018. Rogahn-Press later combined with Wilson and first years
Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) and
Emma Cunningham (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) to take sixth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.72.
Junior
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) finished sixth in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:22.72. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomores
Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) and
Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. The Scots closed out the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome of Wilkins, senior
Anna Warren (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette), Rogahn-Press and Wilson posted a time of 4:10.73.
In Saturday's field events, sophomore
Harmony-Keli Tomety (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook East) finished seventh with a big personal-best leap of 5.22 meters (17-1.5), nearly two feet farther than her previous best. She now ranks seventh all-time at Macalester.
Macalester will send a group of distance runners to the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday, April 11, with the rest of the team competing on Saturday, April 12 at the Bethel Invite.
