BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Macalester College senior
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) qualified for the finals of the 400 meters with the fastest time in the preliminary heats on the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex. She also competed in the 200 meters and made the All-American second team in that event.
In her first race of the day, Rogahn-Press broke the meet record in the 400 with a personal-best time of 54.22, topping her previous record of 54.60 set earlier this year. The time also is the second-fastest time ever run at the NCAA Division III level. The previous NCAA Championships meet record of 54.28 was set by Wadeline Jonathas of UMass Boston in 2018.
In the 200, Rogahn-Press finished 11th in the prelims and third in her heat with a time of 24.68, which breaks her own school record of 25.05 set last weekend at Wartburg. Her place earns her a spot on the All-American second team for finishing in ninth through 12th at the national meet.
Rogahn-Press will run in the finals of the 400 on Saturday, March 14 at 4:25 p.m. Central at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
