BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Macalester College senior
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) was named an All-American for the fourth time today after taking third in the finals of the 400 meters on the last day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Rogahn-Press earned All-American status in the 400 both indoors and outdoors last year and made All-America second team yesterday for taking 11th in the 200 meters.
Rogahn-Press won the second heat of the finals with a time of 54.50, but both Sarah Schermerhorn of Hope and Grace Yarkosky of Plattsburgh State both ran a time of 54.41 in the first heat. Schermerhorn was named the winner in a photo finish.
Yesterday in the prelims, Rogahn-Press ran the second-fastest time in Division III history (54.22) in the 400. Last year she was sixth in the 400 at the national indoor meet and fourth at the national outdoor championships.
The outdoor track & field season begins on April 1 at the Hamline Invitational.
