Women’s Track & Field: Mac Snatches Narrow Third at Rider/Bolstorff Behind Big Relay

| By:

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Today in the Macalester Stadium, the Macalester College women's track & field team hosted the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational. Mac claimed third place with 73 points, just a point ahead of St. Cloud State.

The top story of the season continued to unfold today as first year Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) etched her name into the school record books once again, this time in the 100 meter. Rogahn-Press's second place finish of 12.18 allowed her to snatch the program record from Hannah Sonsalla '18, who had held the top spot since 2017. Her time lands 48th in Division III national rankings. Rogahn-Press now holds the 100, 200 and 400 meter records at Mac in just her first season.

Also in the 100 meter, first year Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) finished fifth in 12.57. The 4x100 meter relay team of Beckley, junior Roen Boyd (Minneapolis, Minn./South), sophomore Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) and Rogahn-Press earned second place in a 48.89 photo finish to beat Saint Benedict and improve their fourth-seeded MIAC time.

In the 800 meter, junior Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis,Mo./Whitfield School) earned third in a personal best 2:18.86. Sophomore Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) placed third in the steeplechase in 11:57.42, just her second time competing in the event this season since she earned a MIAC Honorable Mention in it last season. In the 400 meter hurdles, first year Megan Worry (Menlo Park, Calif./Notre Dame) clocked a personal record 1:09.67 for fifth place. In the 5000 meter on Thursday, sophomore Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) placed fourth in 19:00.02.

Out in the field, sophomore Harmony-Keli Tomety (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook East) landed third in the long jump with a 5.28 meter leap. In the hammer throw, sophomore Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) placed fourth with a heave of 46.38 meters. In the shot put, sophomore Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) launched a 12.07 meter throw that earned her fifth place.

For the final event on the track, the 4x400 meter relay team of Rogahn-Press, Worry, senior Anna Warren (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette) and Wilkins dominated. Their time of 4:04.68 exceeded second place by over 10 seconds and marked a new 75th-best time in D-III. Their win secured the Scots' third-place finish on their home track.

Next week, the Scots visit their cross-Snelling neighbors for the Meet of the UnSaintly at Hamline on Wednesday, April 30.
