COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track & field team competed in the CSB/SJU Invitational on Friday, tallying one event win at a meet that was not scored by team.
Tyler Edwards (Beaverton, Ore./ Oregon Episcopal) was victorious in the 3000m in a time of 8:43.74, the tie-best mark for a Scot in that event this season.
In the 3000m event that Edwards won, Macalester athletes filled the top five spots, including podium finishes by
Reece McKee (Charlottesville, Va./ Charlottesville) and
Tor Olsson (Northampton, Mass./ Northampton). A third place finish was also achieved by
Karson Sammons (Portland, Ore./ Westview) in the 400m in 51.66 seconds.
A school record was set at the meet by
Austin Mills (Eugene, Ore./ Winston Churchill) in the Weight Throw, breaking his own record just one week after setting it. His throw of 15.95m shattered his previous mark of 15.83m. Sebastian Stefanovic (Portland, Ore./ Valley Catholic) placed second in school history with a 8.87 second time in the 60m Hurdles.
The Scots will travel to Northfield, MN. next weekend to compete in the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic on Saturday, their last meet before the MIAC Indoor Championships.
