ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's cross country team is ranked sixth in the North Region in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association North Region rankings, which were released today. This is the fourth straight week at No. 6 for the Scots, who competed in the Blugold Invitational last Friday.
Macalester finished ninth overall and sixth among Region IX teams at the Blugold Invitational, which featured all 10 teams that were ranked in the North Region last week. Junior
Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) had an excellent race, taking eighth out of 337 finishers with a time of 22:32.3 over the 6000-meter course. Sophomore
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) also ran well, taking 35th in 23:27.4, followed by junior
Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) in 51st (23:43.2). Junior
Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) was next in 66th (23:57.3) with junior
Norah Juzenas (Silver Spring, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) taking 183rd to close out the Scots' top five.
UW-La Crosse moved into the top spot in the North Region ahead of Carleton and UW-Eau Claire. St. Olaf is fourth, followed by UW-Stevens Point, Macalester and Gustavus. Ripon, Concordia Wisconsin and UW-River Falls round out the top 10.
Macalester will compete at the Augustana Interregional Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Rock island, Ill.
