NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team won the Meet of the Hearts today, hosted by Carleton. The Scots came in first of seven teams, with 172 points, winning seven individual events. Macalester scored 20 points higher than runner-up Carleton (152).
On the track, sophomore
Jacob Kogut (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) won the 200m dash in a time of 23.76. First year
Sylvain Zong-Naba (Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso/Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong) placed seventh in the event. In the 400m dash, sophomore
Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) won with a time of 49.67, which is a personal best indoor time for Heitler. His time currently ranks 35
th in Division III. Fellow sophomore
Kalid Ali (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) placed fourth in a personal best time of 53.60. The Scots also won the 4x200m relay. Kogut combined with first year

Ryan Kinnucan (Portland, Ore./Grant), and sophomore
Jeff Wang (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) to win in a time of 1:33.40, the tenth best time in Macalester history. Macalester's other team in race: Zong-Naba, and first years
Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Valley Catholic),
Aki Wada (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel) and
Hamza Mahamud (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) took fourth.
In the field, sophomore
Riley Hodin (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) won both the triple jump and long jump. Hodin registered a mark of 6.14m (20' 1.75") in the long jump and 13.12m (43' 0.50") in the triple jump. First year
Kevin Wang (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) placed third in the triple jump. First year
Austin Mills (Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill) won the shot put with a personal best mark of 12.84m (42' 1.50"). Sophomore
Aiden Yang (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) took third in shot put. In the weight throw, senior
Victor Wright (Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner) won with a personal best mark of 14.86m (48' 9"). This is the second-best mark in Macalester history. Sophomore
Max Menache (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills) took second and Mills placed third in the weight throw.
Other notable finishes for the Scots include Schonebaum and senior
Lachlan Witt (Kinnelon, N.J./Morris Catholic) placed second and third respectively in the 600m run. Schonebaum's time of 1:24.68 is the fifth best time in Macalester history. Sophomore
Ben Crotteau (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast) finished fourth in the mile run. Fellow sophomores
Nick Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and
Reece McKee (Charlottesville, VA./Charlottesville) placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 3000m run. Their times of 8:45.30 and 8:47.35 rank fifth and sixth in Macalester history. Stefanowicz finished second in the 55m hurdles in a time of 8.61. The 4x400m relay team of Schonebaum, Wang, Kinnucan, and Ali finished second, with a time of 3:30.14.
Macalester's next meet will be the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic, held on Saturday Feb 18 in Northfield, Minn.
