Â
League coaches had tapped St. Norbert as the favorite to win the North Division in the league's preseason poll while Macalester was picked fourth.
Â

Â
Bialostok, the MWC Offensive Performer of the Week, would go onto rush for 122 yards and three touchdowns on the day while also passing for 172 yards.

Â
Go "Mid"West Young MenHorace Greeley may have said "Go west, young man," but Macalester has chosen to go to the Midwest, the Midwest Conference, for football.
Â
After 12 seasons as an independent, following their departure from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in football, the Scots are back in a football conference, competing in the MWC's North Division along with Beloit, Carroll, Lawrence, Ripon and St. Norbert. The South Division features Cornell, Grinnell, Illinois College, Knox, Lake Forest and Monmouth.
Â
Macalester was picked fourth in North Division by the MWC Coaches' in the league's preseason poll. St. Norbert, which won the MWC title last season, was picked first in the North while Illinois College was picked to win the South Division.
Â
He's the BossThe 28th head coach in the 128-year history of Macalester football,
Tony Jennison, is in his seventh season as the Scots' mentor. His six-plus seasons have seen his teams put together a 33-33 record, including a 27-19 mark over the last four-plus seasons.
A 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, he was a part of four conference championship teams and two NCAA Division III championship teams as a collegian.
Â
Jennison began his collegiate coaching career in 1998 at UW-Eau Claire as the defensive backs coach. In 2002, he took the defensive coordinator position at Marietta College before coming to coming to Macalester in 2005 in the same coaching position. He became the Scots' head coach in 2008.
Â
Â
I'm a Cheesehead, Baby, The Pride of WisconsinThe song title by the Group Cheeseheads With Attitude is apt for the 13 student-athletes on the Macalester roster who call Wisconsin home.
Outside of Minnesota, no state is more represented on the Macalester roster than Wisconsin and that group of 13 is playing the third of three games in their home state this season. The group includes defensive linemen
Tristan Truttmann,
Ryan Flanagan and
Zach Hauser; running backs Zandy
Stowell and
Liam Peebles; linebackers
Elliot Tanin,
A.J. Imholte and
Eric Seonbuchner; offensive linemen
Eben Johnson,
Djoser Ramsey and
David McNichols; quarterback
Jacob Simons; and wide receiver
Tre Nowaczynski.
Â
The Awards ShowMacalester student-athletes have been recognized with weekly award seven times this season, including three following the win over Carroll.
Â
Bialostok was named the MWC Offensive Performer of the Week while
Michael Abramson, for the second time this season, was named the conference's Special Teams Performer of the Week after converting all four of his point after touchdowns to go with a pair of field goals.
Â
Meanwhile, D3football.com cited the Scots' offensive line for their outstanding performance by naming them to the site's Team of the Week.
Â
In week four,
Bradley Cox was named the MWC Special Team Performer of the Week while Bialostok was an honorable mention pick for national offensive player of the week by USA Football.
Â
The Last Time it HappenedMacalester has won seven games in a season twice, going 7-2-0 in 1960 and 7-2-1 in 1986, but has never sported a 7-1 record through eight games.
Â
The Scots' six-game winning streak is tied for the longest in school history, along with the 1950 Macalester squad which closed out the season with six consecutive wins.
Â
The school record for consecutive wins is 14 from 1887 to 1895, spanning the program's first 14 games. The modern record is eight consecutive victories between 1947 (five games) and 1948 (three games).
Â
The Last Time it Happened – ReduxVying for a conference championship is something Macalester football is unaccustomed to doing. Not only have the Scots played as an independent for the last 12 years, the school's last football time came in 1947, when they shared the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title with St. Thomas. Macalester also won the 1925 MIAC title outright.
Â
Half a HundredMacalester celebrated 50 years in Macalester Stadium last weekend, with the facility having been dedicated Oct. 30, 1964. It has undergone several renovations and improvements over the years and remains one of the top facilities in NCAA Division III.
Â
Up NextMidwest Conference Championship Week will close out the regular season, Nov. 15. Each of the North Division teams will play their counterpart, based on their finish in their division, from the South Division at the home of the South team.
Â
The first-place teams from the North and South will play for the conference championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs.
