On Tap
In a battle for supremacy in the Midwest Conference North Division, Macalester (6-1 overall, 3-0 North) plays host to 24th-ranked Carroll (7-0, 3-0) in a 1 p.m. game at Macalester. It will also be Senior Day for the Scots, who will honor 16 seniors playing their final home game.

The Series
The Pioneers lead the all-time series 3-0, having won 6-0 at home in 1951, 13-0 in 1952 and 21-13 in 1954 at Macalester.

When Last We Met
The teams are meeting for the first time in 60 years, with Carroll having won the teams' last meeting, 21-13.

Last Week
Macalester scored on two of its first four offensive plays, led 17-0 barely six minutes into the game, and cruised to a 33-0 win over Lawrence.

Samson Bialostok dashed 57 yards for a touchdown on the game's second play and connected with Garrett Eichhorn for a 64-yard score on the Scots second play of their second possession.

A Michael Abramson field goal, a safety and a 25-yard TD pass from Bialostock to Ben Hillmann would eventually give Macalester to 26-0 lead with 2:25 remaining in the first quarter.

Bialostok amassed 190 yards of total offense on just eight plays, rushing twice for 58 yards while completing four of six passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

The defense limited Lawrence to 68 yards of offense in the first half and 238 yards for the game, including just 26 rushing yards on 35 carries. Nicholas Egersdorf led the Scots with seven tackles, including three quarterback sacks, and a forced fumble.

Go "Mid"West Young Men
Horace Greeley may have said "Go west, young man," but Macalester has chosen to go to the Midwest, the Midwest Conference, for football.

After 12 seasons as an independent, following their departure from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in football, the Scots are back in a football conference, competing in the MWC's North Division along with Beloit, Carroll, Lawrence, Ripon and St. Norbert. The South Division features Cornell, Grinnell, Illinois College, Knox, Lake Forest and Monmouth.

Macalester was picked fourth in North Division by the MWC Coaches' in the league's preseason poll. St. Norbert, which won the MWC title last season, was picked first in the North while Illinois College was picked to win the South Division.

He's the Boss
The 28th head coach in the 127-year history of Macalester football, Tony Jennison, is in his seventh season as the Scots' mentor. His six-plus seasons have seen his teams put together a 32-33 record, including a 26-19 mark over the last four-plus seasons.

A 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, he was a part of four conference championship teams and two NCAA Division III championship teams as a collegian.

Jennison began his collegiate coaching career in 1998 at UW-Eau Claire as the defensive backs coach. In 2002, he took the defensive coordinator position at Marietta College before coming to coming to Macalester in 2005 in the same coaching position. He became the Scots' head coach in 2008.

I'm a Cheesehead, Baby, The Pride of Wisconsin
The song title by the Group Cheeseheads With Attitude is apt for the 13 student-athletes on the Macalester roster who call Wisconsin home.

Outside of Minnesota, no state is more represented on the Macalester roster than Wisconsin and that group of 13 will play three games in their home state this season. The group includes defensive linemen Tristan Truttmann, Ryan Flanagan and Zach Hauser; running backs Zandy Stowell and Liam Peebles; linebackers Elliot Tanin, A.J. Imholte and Eric Seonbuchner; offensive linemen Eben Johnson, Djoser Ramsey and David McNichols; quarterback Jacob Simons; and wide receiver Tre Nowaczynski.

The Awards Show
Macalester student-athletes have been recognized with weekly award four times this season.

Michael Abramson was named the MWC Special Teams Performer of the Week and Ryan Fleming was named to the d3football.com Team of the Week in week one.

In week four, Bradley Cox was named the MWC Special Team Performer of the Week while Bialostok was an honorable mention pick for national offensive player of the week by USA Football.

The Last Time it Happened
Macalester has not started a season 6-1 since 1985, when the Scots opened the season by winning six of their first seven games, led by defensive back Blaine Kunze, the team's current defensive backs coach and 2014 M Club Hall of Fame inductee.

The team's five-game winning streak is just the third time in school history in which Macalester has won five games in a row during a season and the first time since the Scots closed out the 1950 by winning its last six games. Macalester also won its final five games in 1947.

The last time Macalester won five games in a row was a streak which covered the 1983 and 1984 seasons, when the Scots won their final two games in 1983 and opened the 1984 season with three straight victories.

The school record for consecutive wins is 14 from 1887 to 1895, spanning the program's first 14 games. The modern record is eight consecutive victories between 1947 (five games) and 1948 (three games).

The Last Time it Happened – Part Deux
The Scots have not faced a nationally-ranked team since opening the 2009 season at home by hosting 17th-ranked St. Thomas, which handed Macalester a 54-14 defeat.

Half a Hundred
Macalester Stadium is 50 years old, having been dedicated Oct. 30, 1964. It has undergone several renovations and improvements over the years and remains one of the top facilities in NCAA Division III.

Up Next
Macalester will be back in Wisconsin next weekend for the final game of the 2014 North Division slate when it travels to De Pere to take on St. Norbert. The Scots and Green Knights will meet Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at Donald J. Schneider Stadium.
