Macalester vs. Bethel box score
Macalester used superior depth in the singles lineup to earn its first MIAC victory of the season, a 5-4 triumph over Bethel Friday night at the Lifetime Fitness Club in Lakeville. The Scots are now 1-3 in the league and 6-6 overall.
The Royals took two of the three doubles matches and won at first and second singles, but Macalester won at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles.
Max Edwards (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) won at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1;
Max Soghikian (Jr., Piedmont, Calif.) won 2-6, 6-0, 10-8 at No. 4;
Kai Peterson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn. / Central) won 3-6, 6-4, 10-2 at No. 5; and
Sam Naden (So., Middleton, Wis.) took a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 6.
Mac also received an 8-1 win from
Stephen Tyndel (Sr., Toronto, Ont. / City Academy) and Soghikian at No. 2 doubles.
The Scots play Hamline Saturday (April 20) at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center at 8:30 p.m.
