Why I chose Macalester:
Many of Macalester's strengths fit what I was looking for. The strong Political Science department, many study abroad options, an urban setting, and an engaged student body all appealed to me. I didn't want or plan to attend college close to home, but Macalester was simply too good of an option to pass up.
What Macalester has meant to me:
My experience at Macalester has taught me a great deal, most of the learning occurring outside the classroom. Being part of a small campus community with talented and driven individuals has led to many enlightening conversations and debates on a wide variety of issues. Macalester also prepared me well for my study abroad experience in which I was able to immerse myself in Chinese culture and put into action all of Macalester's talk of being a global citizen.
How Macalester Tennis has shaped me as an individual:
Being a student-athlete at Macalester has been a blessing. The camaraderie on the team is special, and our pursuit of a common goal has driven home the importance of teamwork, support, and goal-setting for me. I feel more confident and driven than I would otherwise be without my experience as a student-athlete.
