ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomore Charles Flaman (Calgary, Alberta/Rundle College) was selected the MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20, the conference announced today. Flaman won both of his singles matches and went 1-1 in doubles last week.

Playing at No. 1 singles for the Scots, Flaman defeated Wartburg's Ezequiel Viteri, 6-3, 6-2 for one of three Macalester points in a 4-3 defeat to the Knights. On Sunday against UW-Superior, he combined with sophomore Derek Chen (South Kingstown, R.I./Moses Brown School) to win at No. 1 doubles before dispatching Enzo Nascimento, 6-0, 6-1 in singles. The results helped the Scots sweep the Yellowjackets, 7-0.

So far this season, Flaman is 4-0 in singles and has dropped a total of 11 games while winning all four matches in straight sets. He and Chen are 3-1 at No. 1 doubles. Last year, Flaman earned All-MIAC honors in both singles and doubles after compiling records of 14-5 in singles and 13-6 in doubles.

Macalester wraps up the fall schedule at the ITA Fall Tournament, held at Gustavus Oct. 2-5 in St. Peter, Minn.
