Macalester vs. Northwestern box score

Macalester pulled out a three-set victory at No. 1 singles and went on to sweep Northwestern-Roseville 9-0 Saturday morning at the Leonard Center.  The Scots are now 2-1 on the season going into their MIAC opener next Sunday (Feb. 24) against Carleton.

At No. 1 singles, Brian Utz (Fy., Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) came back from a 7-5 defeat in the opening set to win the second 6-4.  In the third-set tiebreaker, Utz battled back from a 4-0 deficit to win 10-4.

Other Macalester singles winners were Max Edwards (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) at No. 2, Stephen Tyndel (Sr., Toronto, Ont. / City Academy) at No. 3, Max Soghikian (Jr., Piedmont, Calif.) at No. 4, Kai Peterson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn. / Central) at No. 5 and Perry Campbell (So., Beloit, Wis. / Memorial) at No. 6.

Mac doubles winners were Utz and Edwards at No. 1, Tyndel and Soghikian at No. 2, and Sam Naden (So., Middleton, Wis.) and Peterson at No. 3.
