After winning back-to-back 5-4 decisions last week to get into the six-team conference post-season, the Macalester men's tennis team travels to St. Peter this weekend for the MIAC playoffs at Gustavus Adolphus College.

As the No. 5 seed following a 4-5 MIAC campaign, the Scots take on No. 4 St. Thomas in a quarter-final match Friday (May 4).  The other 3 p.m. first-round match pits No. 3 St. Olaf against No. 6 St. John's.

First-round byes go to No. 1 Gustavus and No. 2 Carleton.  These teams play Saturday semi-final matches at 11:30 a.m. against the two quarter-final winners.  The finals are set for Friday.

Several Scots bring in winning MIAC records into the tournament, including singles players Evan Elderbrock (Sr., Madison, Wis. / West) (4-3 at No. 2), Stephen Tyndel (Jr., Toronto, Ont. / City Academy) (5-2 at No. 3), Max Edwards (Jr., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) (6-2 at No. 4) and Max Soghikian (So., Piedmont, Calif.) (7-2 at No. 6).  Mac's third doubles team of Edwards and Soghikian went 7-2 in MIAC matches.   Tyndel and Chris Fowler (Sr., Toronto, Ont. / Royal St. George's) went 4-3 at No. 2 doubles in league play.
